The Well-Loved Piano Story...
Since the beginning, we have focused our efforts on making your piano easier to play so you can truly enjoy your music. Today we're a full-service piano care business serving the Southeast US with locations in Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, and Atlanta. I’m Timothy Barnes, our Founder and one of our registered piano technicians.
Our business began in 2003 as Barnes Piano, but today, we’re The Well-Loved Piano Company. We changed our name to fully reflect the work we do for you. Our technicians have pursued the highest technical training available in the industry and we take extra time at every appointment to answer your questions, we can even sit down and play a few notes for you - as we’re also musicians who have a deep love for the piano. Our passion is helping you take the best care of the piano you love.
We came by this mission earnestly. When I was 17, I decided to take a stab at tuning our family’s piano. I figured that tuning a piano was no different than tuning a guitar. Since my sister could tune her guitar, surely I could tune my piano – right? Out came the tools from my dad’s tool box.
30 minutes later, the piano sounded worse than ever. That was the time to call the piano repair professional in, and that was what changed everything.
I watched him in awe for 2 straight hours as he patiently tuned our piano, carefully selecting each specialized tool from his bag. By the time he was finished, the piano played better than ever before and I was hooked. I saw the value firsthand and the kind of care and attention pianos need to stay vibrant and playable.
That’s what guides us as a company – knowing these qualities of caring for pianos personally. Though our team has grown beyond myself in those early days in 2003, all of us are proud to play a role in providing the best service possible to you. While we may not be able to keep you from giving it a go with dad’s toolbox, we’ll definitely be there to set everything right again.
